Are you familiar with the movie “If Only”? The story isn’t that original and the actors aren’t so great either, but the thing that really got me hooked was the line, “In every relationship, someone always loves more. Oh God, i hope it isn’t me”. You know why? Because it’s so true. Our instincts would scream for the less painful choice and we would naturally wish for self-preservation.
But then when asked, would you rather be with the one who loves you… or the one you love –why do we find it difficult to answer? Why does it confuse us?
I’m not at all an expert at this, but I would rather be with the one who loves me — if given the choice. With all the strength I can muster, I would have to go for being loved.
For choosing the one i love is too painful and destructive. His unfaithfulness would destroy me, his insensitivity would drive me insane, and his unhappiness would kill me. More importantly, because i love him, I would give anything just to see him smile…even if it means giving him up. I believe you can only have 1 great love in a lifetime. But if that one great love doesn’t have as great a love for you, do not settle. For life is too short to be unhappy.
Don’t get me wrong though. I have nothing against loving. I love my man. Its just that, if were talking bout choices, and if faced with the opportunity of choosing (—which hardly happens, if not impossible!!), I would rather be loved than be the one who loves.
