Have you ever hurt so much that you thought you wouldn’t love again? Sometimes, life smacks us in the face, knocks us off our feet and make us lose our balance that we never know what to do next. And human as we are, we always go the easy way out and give up. We run, we distract ourselves, we fight our damnedest to survive.
But Love, has its other side…the pain. It’s easy to be lost in the bliss…the elation. We rarely if not, remember that nothing lasts forever, and that in the loss of that bliss comes a gnawing emptiness. As Meredith Grey puts it:
Pain comes in all forms. The small tinge. A bit of soreness. The random pain. The normal pains we live with everyday. Then there’s the kind of pain you can’t ignore. A level of pain so great that it blocks out anything else. Makes the rest of the world fade away. Until all we can think about is how much we hurt. How we manage our pain is up to us. We anaesthetize, ride it out, embrace it, ignore it. And for some of us the best way to manage pain is to just push through it.
With Love comes great risk. And we should all be ready for it. Because you can’t just be ready for the ups, you must be ready for the downs as well. And believe me, the downs are much, much more earth-shattering.
Pain. You just have to ride it out. Hope it goes away on its own. Hope that the wound that caused it heals. Most of the time pain can be managed. But sometimes the pain gets to you when you least expect it. It’s way below the belt and doesn’t let up. Pain. You just have to fight through because the truth is you can’t out run it. And life always make more.
- Very true. Sorry for the gloominess of the topic. I just for once, want to write about pain. Because it’s such a big part of who we are. Without it, we never learn. We don’t get stronger, we don’t get to let go. Because of pain, we live.
